5 OPERATING THE UNIT

Before installation, please make sure all of devices have been turned off.

Connect a DVI-D HDCP compliant signal to the input connector using premium quality cable. *

Connect 2 DVI-D HDCP compliant devices to the amplifier’s outputs using premium quality cable. **

Plug the DC power adapter into the rear of the unit.

Plug the power adapter into a working AC socket.

Power on all input and output devices.

The input signal should now be available to all devices connected to the device outputs.

*Note: This product is not compatible with HDMI signaling. Thus, you should not attempt to use HDMI source or display devices with this product.

**Note: A HDCP compliant monitor or other HDCP compliant device must be connected to output number 1 for the other outputs of the DA to function properly. Once connected, this output cannot be disconnected without adversely affecting the other outputs. The reason for this requirement has to do with the copy protection scheme used in HDCP devices and the DDC layer used to identify the characteristics of the connected devices. Also, because of the DDC layer, the resolution capability of the device on output number 1 is the defining factor for the resolution of all other outputs. For this reason, if you intend to feed monitors or projectors with the product’s outputs and the resolution capability of the devices vary, make certain you connect a device with resolution capability compatible with all monitors or projectors to output number 1.

6 TROUBLESHOOTING

If the Distribution Amplifier does not appear to be functioning, make certain that the DVI source and all of the devices connected to the unit are functioning correctly by connecting each DVI device currently connected to the amplifier’s outputs directly to the DVI source using a cable with a length of 6 feet or less. (In other words, bypass the amplifier to make certain that the problem is not with the source or destination devices.) If the signal is present under those conditions, make certain that the power is present to the DA. If it is, measure the cable length you are attempting to use between the sources to the switcher and the switcher to the monitor. The input cables should be 6 feet or less in length and the output cables must be less than 33 feet long and all cables should be premium quality. Lastly, inspect the cables and connectors for damage.

Note: If some devices connected to the DA outputs work but others do not, make certain that the devices that do not appear to work are HDCP compliant. A non-HDCP compliant device will not work with a signal that has HDCP encoding present.
