ChecktheFirmware
Firmwareissoftwarethatdeterminesthefunctionalityofnetworkdevices.Oneofyourrstactionswhentroubleshootingaproblem
shouldbetocheckthecurrentrmwareversion.Thelatestversionmaycontainacorrectionthatxesyourparticularproblem.The
currentrmwareversionintheAxisproductisdisplayedinthepageSetup>BasicSetupandinSetup>About.
UpgradetheFirmware
Important
Yourdealerreservestherighttochargeforanyrepairattributabletofaultyupgradebytheuser .
Preconguredandcustomizedsettingsaresavedwhenthermwareisupgraded(providingthefeaturesareavailableinthe
newrmware)althoughthisisnotguaranteedbyAxisCommunicationsAB.
Note
Aftertheupgradeprocesshascompleted,theproductwillrestartautomatically.Ifrestartingtheproductmanuallyafterthe
upgrade,alwayswait10minutesevenifyoususpecttheupgradehasfailed.
WhenyouupgradetheAxisproductwiththelatestrmwarefromAxiswebsite,theproductreceivesthelatestfunctionality
available.Alwaysreadtheupgradeinstructionsandreleasenotesavailablewitheachnewreleasebeforeupgrading
thermware.
Toupgradetheproduct’srmware:
1.Savethermwareletoyourcomputer.ThelatestversionofthermwareisavailablefreeofchargefromAxiswebsite
atwww.axis.com/techsup
2.GotoSetup>SystemOptions>Maintenanceintheproduct’swebpages.
3.UnderUpgradeServer,clickBrowseandlocatetheleonyourcomputer.ClickUpgrade.
4.Waitapproximately10minuteswhiletheproductisbeingupgradedandrestarted.Thenaccesstheproduct.

EmergencyRecoveryProcedure

Ifpowerornetworkconnectionislostduringtheupgrade,theprocessfailsandtheproductbecomesunresponsive.FlashingredStatus
indicatorindicatesafailedupgrade.Torecovertheproduct,followthestepsbelow.Theserialnumberisfoundontheproduct’slabel.
1.InUNIX/Linux,typethefollowingfromthecommandline:

InWindows,typethefollowingfromacommand/DOSprompt(thismayrequirethatyourunthecommandpromptas
anadministrator):

2.Iftheproductdoesnotreplyin30seconds,restartitandwaitforareply .PressCTRL+CtostopPing.
3.Openabrowserandtypeintheproduct’sIPaddress.Inthepagethatopens,usetheBrowsebuttontoselecttheupgrade
letouse.ThenclickLoadtorestarttheupgradeprocess.
4.Aftertheupgradeiscomplete(1–10minutes),theproductautomaticallyrestartsandshowsasteadygreenonthe
Statusindicator.
