OVERVIEW

With the SCSI Differential Converter, you get two great functions with one product. The SCSI Differential Converter translates single-ended SCSI bus signals into differential signals and vice versa. And it can be used as a single-ended to single-ended bus extender system up to 121 feet

(36.9 meters). Just interconnect two units.

The SCSI Differential Converter is highly compatible.

It’s a popular choice for high-speed interconnection media between micro, mini, and mainframe computers and high- performance peripherals. And it’s compatible with most host adapters and peripherals that conform to ANSI X3.131 and X3T9.2 specifications.

Interface the SCSI Differential Converter with multiple host computers to provide a high-speed, extended intercommuni- cations link of standard SCSI bus interfaces. And remember that peripherals with high-speed data throughput usually need a differential interface to operate over longer cable lengths. The SCSI Differential Converter gives you increased noise immunity, while maintaining signal integrity over extended distances.

The SCSI Differential Converter contains an internal active bus terminator which improves cable-matching characteristics. Remove it for added flexibility.

Extend the working distance of high-speed host-to-host computers, get remote high-resolution graphics, and store

data. The SCSI Differential Converter provides ideal solutions for high-speed remote data communications.

Installation is easy. It’s completely transparent to all SCSI-1, SCSI-2, and SCSI-3 commands and doesn’t require a SCSI device address. And it can be installed anywhere on the bus to provide the bus conversion you need.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Translates single-ended SCSI bus signals into differential bus signals or vice versa, or use two units as a single-ended to single-ended bus extender.

Technically Speaking

The SCSI Differential Converter interfaces directly with SCSI interface adapters used in PCs, VME, DEC, Sun®, EISA, and Macintosh® host computers. It also extends the working distance to disk drives, CD-ROM memory systems, and tape backup peripherals.

Single-ended and differential device termination meets ANSI X3.131 and Z3T9.2 specifications. And proprietary switching logic enables the SCSI Differential Converter to maintain complete SCSI command functionality.

SCSI Differential Converter specifications

The Black Box SCSI Differential Converter is an essential component in the realm of data transfer and communication, particularly for systems that require high-speed access to storage devices. This device bridges the gap between SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) technologies and differential signal transmission, enabling effective data handling in environments that demand reliability and performance.

One of the primary features of the Black Box SCSI Differential Converter is its ability to enhance data integrity. By utilizing differential signaling, the converter significantly reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it well-suited for installation in noisy environments or long-distance applications. This results in fewer data errors and improved performance when transmitting information across various devices.

Another characteristic of the converter is its compatibility with the SCSI standards, ensuring versatility across a wide range of existing SCSI devices. The device supports both SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 implementations, allowing users to seamlessly connect older SCSI peripherals to newer systems without a hitch. This backward compatibility makes it a valuable asset for organizations looking to upgrade systems while preserving their existing equipment.

The Black Box SCSI Differential Converter also boasts exceptional data transfer speeds, maximizing throughput. With data rates reaching up to 40 MBps, users can benefit from rapid access to data, essential for applications requiring fast response times, such as database management and server systems. This speed is achieved while maintaining all the reliability expected from SCSI systems, including support for multiple devices connected to the same bus.

In terms of installation, the user-friendly design of the converter simplifies the process. It typically features clear labeling and an intuitive layout, allowing quick setup with minimal tools. Additionally, the compact form factor ensures that the device can easily fit into various system configurations without taking up excessive space.

The Black Box SCSI Differential Converter also emphasizes robust construction to withstand the rigors of industrial environments. With enhanced shielding and durable components, this device is built to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimizing downtime.

In conclusion, the Black Box SCSI Differential Converter represents a vital component in modern data communication systems. With its features of increased data integrity, compatibility with existing SCSI standards, high data transfer speeds, easy installation, and rugged durability, it stands out as a reliable solution for professionals seeking to enhance their data transmission capabilities.
