La scie égoïne peut être utilisée pour faire des coupes en plongeant dans les matériaux mous (comme par exemple le bois ou les matériaux de construction légers pour murs) sans faire d’avant-trou (Fig. 8).

1.Tracez la ligne de coupe sur la pièce.

2.Maintenez le bord de la semelle fermement appuyé sur le matériau.

3.Placez la pointe de la lame (au repos) sur la ligne de coupe.

4.Inclinez la scie de sorte que la lame ne touche pas au matériau.

5.Appuyez sur la gâchette, puis pivotez soigneusement la lame sur le matériau.

6.Quand la lame pénètre dans le matériau, continuez à scier le long du tracé.

REMARQUES :

Pour faciliter le sciage en plongée, utilisez une lame épaisse, montez-la avec les dents vers le haut et tenez la scie à l’envers comme illustré (Fig. 9).

Ne sciez pas en plongeant dans le métal.

Dans les matériaux épais et dans les matériaux durs comme le métal, il ne faut pas scier en plongeant. Pour scier ces matériaux à l’égoïne, il est impératif de partir du bord de la pièce ou d’un avant-trou débouchant d’un diamètre suffisant pour accommoder la lame.
