Using your headphones

If you plan to use them for noise reduction only, simply put on the headphones and turn on the power switch, located on the right earcup. There are no cable connections required for this use.

To use the headphones for audio, first notice the settings on the audio attenuator shown below.

Hi/Lo

switch

These Hi and Lo settings are used to adjust the output volume of different audio sources. “Lo” is typically used for airline audio or audio devices that use A/C power. “Hi” is typically used for battery-powered audio devices.

Note: Hi and Lo settings have no effect on noise reduction.

Select the appropriate setting for the sound source you will use. Then insert the audio attenuator into the opening on the left (L) earcup and press it in so it is flush with the side of the earcup.

As soon as you connect the headphone plug to your audio source, you are ready to put on the headphones and turn on the power switch to enjoy both audio and noise reduction. Use the volume control on the selected audio source to make additional volume adjustments.

QC-2 specifications

The Bose QuietComfort 2 (QC-2) headphones were introduced as a benchmark in the realm of noise-canceling audio technology. These headphones quickly became synonymous with comfortable listening experiences, deployed particularly by frequent travelers and urban commuters who sought a respite from environmental noise.

One of the standout features of the QC-2 is its advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology. This system employs microphones both inside and outside the ear cups to detect and analyze ambient sounds, effectively producing opposing sound waves that cancel out unwanted noise. This acoustic innovation ensures that users can dive deep into their music or podcasts without the distractions of the outside world.

Additionally, the QC-2 headphones feature plush ear cushions that are designed for long-term wear, providing both comfort and passive noise isolation. The lightweight design further enhances the listening experience by allowing users to enjoy extended periods of use without discomfort. The headband is adjustable and crafted from soft materials, ensuring a snug yet gentle fit.

Another notable characteristic of the QC-2 is its audio performance. Bose has a longstanding reputation for delivering high-fidelity sound quality, and the QC-2 is no exception. Users experience deep bass, balanced mids, and crisp highs, enhancing the audio experience across genres. This is complemented by the headphones' ability to provide consistent sound quality regardless of ambient noise levels, guaranteeing an immersive experience whether in a quiet room or bustling subway.

Battery life is an area where the QC-2 shines. With an impressive playback time on a single charge, these headphones can keep up with the demands of long trips and busy schedules. Moreover, the simple controls allow for easy management of volume, play/pause functions, and calls, providing user-friendly accessibility that doesn’t distract from the listening experience.

Finally, versatility is a key feature of the QC-2. While designed primarily for personal audio enjoyment, they are compatible with various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, thanks to standard audio jacks and Bluetooth connectivity options. This adaptability ensures that users can seamlessly integrate the QC-2 into their daily lives, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking high-quality audio combined with cutting-edge noise-canceling technology.
