Boston Horizon Powered subwoofers

What it means to be from Boston.

Many manufacturers design speaker systems around third-party, off-the-shelf parts. Boston Acoustics engineers every component of every system to meet the highest performance standards (our own). Of course, performance is only one measure of value. So we’re careful to build all our products with strict attention to everything from the choice of materials to the details of fit and finish. It’s how we’ve been exceeding the expectations of serious listeners for nearly thirty years.

Raw power, refined.

There’s no denying that HPS subwoofers are powerful, but they can’t be confused with blunt instruments. The front baffles are gently curving surfaces. The woofer assemblies feature low-mass cones and the cabinets are extensively ribbed and braced with MDF to reduce unwanted resonances. And every model features a volume and crossover control to adjust performance to the acoustics of your room, and a phase switch to keep output in sync with your speakers. The result is deep, distortion-free bass that enhances (rather than overpowers) speaker performance — even at the highest output levels.

HPS 12HO, HPS 10SE specifications

Boston Acoustics has long been recognized for its innovative audio solutions, catering to audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Among its standout offerings are the HPS 10SE and HPS 12HO subwoofers, which integrate advanced features and technologies to deliver remarkable sound performance.

The HPS 10SE is designed for those who seek a compact yet powerful subwoofer that can seamlessly blend with a variety of audio systems. With a 10-inch, high-excursion driver, it offers a frequency response that extends deep into the low-end spectrum. This model boasts a built-in amplifier that produces up to 150 watts RMS, ensuring that users experience the full dynamic range of their favorite music or movie soundtracks. The ported enclosure design of the HPS 10SE enhances its overall efficiency, allowing for greater output and clarity in bass frequencies.

One of the key technologies behind the HPS 10SE is Boston Acoustics' proprietary BassTrac circuitry, which effectively manages and regulates low-frequency output. This innovative feature prevents distortion even at high volume levels, providing a clean and articulate bass response that enriches the overall listening experience. The adjustable low-pass crossover allows users to fine-tune the subwoofer's settings, ensuring optimal integration with main speakers.

Turning to the HPS 12HO, this subwoofer elevates the performance bar with its larger 12-inch driver, which is engineered for delivering deep and powerful bass that can fill larger spaces. The HPS 12HO also features a built-in amplifier that peaks at 300 watts, making it a formidable choice for home theater enthusiasts and music lovers seeking that extra punch. Its front-firing design allows for flexible placement options, enhancing installation versatility.

Both models feature a robust MDF construction, providing enhanced durability while minimizing resonance. Additionally, the HPS 12HO benefits from an advanced cooling system, which ensures the subwoofer remains thermally efficient even during extended use.

In conclusion, the Boston Acoustics HPS 10SE and HPS 12HO subwoofers stand out for their exceptional build quality, innovative technology, and impressive performance metrics. Whether you seek the compact efficiency of the HPS 10SE or the powerful output of the HPS 12HO, both models promise to deliver an impactful audio experience that will elevate any sound system.
