Metering Methods

 

 

 

 

Appropriate for standard shooting conditions,

 

 

 

 

including backlit scenes. The camera divides images

 

 

 

 

into several zones for metering. It evaluates complex

 

 

 

Evaluative

lighting conditions, such as the position of the subject,

 

 

 

 

the brightness, the direct light, and the backlighting,

 

 

 

 

and adjusts the settings to the correct exposure for

 

 

 

 

the main subject.

 

 

 

Center

Averages the light metered from the entire frame, but

 

 

 

Weighted

gives greater weight to the subject matter at the

 

 

 

Average

center.

 

 

 

 

Meters the area within the spot AE point at the center

 

 

 

Spot

Adjusting the Exposure Compensation

Shooting Mode

Adjust exposure to the + side to avoid making the subject too dark when shooting in a backlit situation or against a bright background, and adjust exposure to the – side to avoid making the subject too light when shooting at night or with a dark background.
