NIGHT MODE/SUPER NIGHT MODE
You don’t want to be forced to stop shooting just because the sun goes down. Which is why Canon digital video cameras feature Night Mode. Night Mode lets more light into the camcorder by slowing down the shutter, allowing you to capture excellent quality and vivid colour footage – even in dim conditions or while indoors. When it is pitch black, the Super Night Mode comes on to light your scene and keep you recording.
Night Mode is included in all camcorders, while the following models also have the more advanced Super Night Mode:
MV850i | MVX350i |
MV880X | MVX45i |

Using the Mini Video Light in dark conditions not only brightens your footage – it helps bring out vibrant colours and prevents the ’grainy’ effect of low light video.
Better resolution, better results.
EFFECTIVE MOVIE PIXELS/EFFECTIVE STILL PIXELS
The light recording sensor in a camcorder is made up of thousands of tiny pixels. The number of pixels a camcorder has influences its ability to capture detail. Generally, the more pixels, the finer the detail your digital video camera captures. Higher resolutions translate into smoother, more even tones, cleaner detail, and printed photos that can be enlarged to a greater extent without a noticeable drop in image quality.
The following is an easy guide to each camcorder’s CCD sensor resolution and an explanation of how to translate this into stunning photo prints:
