IMPORTANT FACTS

Your furnace must have adequate airflow for efficient combustion and safe ventilation. Do not enclose it in an airtight room or “seal” it behind solid doors.

To minimize the possibility of serious personal injury, fire, furnace damage, or improper operation, carefully

follow these safety rules:

FOR YOUR SAFETY

Do not store or use gasoline or other flam- mable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Installing and servicing of heating equipment can be hazardous due to oil and electrical components. Only trained and qualified personnel should install, repair, or service heating equipment.

Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions such as cleaning and replacing air filters. All other operations must be performed by trained service personnel. Observe safety precautions in this manual, on tags, and on labels attached to the furnace and other safety precautions that may apply.

Recognize safety information. This is the safety-alert symbol ! . When you see this symbol on the furnace and in instructions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury.

Understand the signal words — DANGER, WARN- ING, and CAUTION. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol. DANGER identifies the most seri- ous hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies hazards which could result in personal injury or death. CAUTION is used to identify unsafe practices which may result in minor per- sonal injury or product and property damage. NOTE is used to highlight suggestions which will result in enhanced installation, reliability or operation.

3

Do not cover the furnace, store trash or debris near it, or in any way block the flow of fresh air to the unit.

Combustion air must be clean and not contaminated with chlorine or fluorine. These compounds are present in many products around the home, such as: water soft- ener salts, laundry bleaches, detergents, adhesives, paints, varnishes, paint strippers, waxes, and plastics.

Make sure the combustion air for your furnace does not contain any of these compounds. During remodel- ing be sure the combustion air is fresh and uncontam- inated. If air with vapors of these compounds is burned in your furnace, the heat exchangers and metal vent system may deteriorate.

NOTE: Do not use this furnace if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service tech- nician to inspect the furnace and to replace any part of the control system, electrical components, and any oil control which has been under water.

NOTE: The qualified installer or agency must use only factory-authorized replacement parts, kits, and acces- sories when servicing this product.

The furnace burner control has a safety device which must be manually reset. If the furnace is left unattended for an extended period of time, have it checked period- ically for proper operation. This precaution will prevent problems associated with no heat, such as frozen water pipes, etc.

!WARNING

FIRE, EXPLOSION, CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING HAZARD

Failure to follow this warning could lead to sooting, fire, explosion, and/or severe bodily harm.

For use with grade 2 Fuel Oil maximum. Do not use Gasoline, Crankcase Oil, or any Oil containing Gasoline!

!CAUTION

FIRE AND UNIT OVERHEAT HAZARD

Failure to follow this warning could result in unit damage.

Never burn garbage or paper in the heating system and never leave rags, paper, or any flammable items around the unit.

STARTING YOUR FURNACE

This appliance is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner each time the thermostat starts your furnace. Follow these important safeguards:

!WARNING

EXPLOSION HAZARD

Failure to follow this warning could result in property damage or personal injury or death. This furnace is equipped with a constant type primary ignition system. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LIGHT WITH A MATCH.

Carrier 58VMR manual Important Facts, Safety Considerations, Starting Your Furnace, For Your Safety

58VMR specifications

The Carrier 58VMR is a top-tier gas furnace that exemplifies high efficiency and innovative technology. Designed for residential applications, it delivers exceptional heating performance while optimizing energy usage. With an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of up to 97%, the 58VMR stands as one of the most efficient options available in the market today.

One of the defining features of the Carrier 58VMR is its variable-speed blower motor. This technology allows the furnace to operate at different speeds, adjusting airflow based on the heating demand. Consequently, this leads to enhanced comfort levels in the home, as the system can more precisely maintain temperature without the hot and cold fluctuations commonly associated with single-stage systems.

Another notable characteristic of the 58VMR is its two-stage heating capability. This means the furnace can run at a lower stage during milder weather conditions, which not only saves energy but also reduces noise levels, making it operate quietly. On colder days, the furnace automatically switches to the higher stage, ensuring that the home remains warm and comfortable.

The Carrier 58VMR also features advanced diagnostics, which simplifies maintenance and service. Its integrated control board can detect issues quickly and provide error codes to technicians, allowing for faster and more efficient repairs. This proactive approach to maintenance enhances the reliability and longevity of the system.

In addition to its mechanical features, the Carrier 58VMR is designed with a fully insulated cabinet that minimizes heat loss and ensures quiet operation. This level of insulation contributes to the overall efficiency of the system, allowing it to retain more heat and reduce energy consumption.

For homeowners concerned about environmental impact, the 58VMR is compatible with Carrier's EcoBlue technology, which further improves efficiency through advanced combustion processes. This technology ensures that the furnace operates with lower emissions, making it a more environmentally friendly choice.

In conclusion, the Carrier 58VMR gas furnace combines high efficiency, advanced technology, and comfort-enhancing features. With its variable-speed blower, two-stage heating, and ease of maintenance, the 58VMR is well-suited to meet the demands of modern homes. Its commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility makes it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to improve their heating system.
