￿￿Is Cisco VT Advantage for desktop videoconferencing supported?

￿￿Cisco VT Advantage will be supported in SCCP in a follow-up software release.

￿￿Is there speakerphone capability and headset connectivity?

￿￿No. Like the Cisco IP Phone 7912G, the Cisco IP Phone 7911G does not include hands-free speakerphone and headset connectivity. The Cisco IP Phone 7911G supports monitor (one-way audio through the chassis speaker) and will support a group listen feature (European-style speakerphone using the handset and the chassis speaker) in a follow-up software release.

￿￿Does Cisco CallManager Express support the Cisco IP Phone 7911G?

￿￿Cisco CME will support the Cisco IP Phone 7911G starting with Version 4.0, which is planned for release during the second half of 2006.

￿￿Is Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) supported? What about Secure SRST?

￿￿Yes, both are supported on Cisco IOS® Software releases 12.3(14)T and 12.4 Mainline (recommended).

POWER

￿￿Does the phone support Cisco inline power or IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)?

￿￿The Cisco IP Phone 7911G supports both Cisco inline power and IEEE PoE (Class 2).

￿￿As a Class 2 IEEE device, does the Cisco IP Phone 7911G require a continuous draw of 6.49W (standard Class 2)?

￿￿No. When Cisco IP phones are connected to common switches such as the Cisco Catalyst® 3560 or Catalyst 3570, the switch can automatically detect the phone type and provide the exact amount of power that the phone needs. The use of Cisco Discovery Protocol provides this greater granularity to the power classification, allowing for more accurate reporting of power consumption. This means that Cisco phones can be more energy efficient than other IP phones in the same IEEE power class, allowing for more IEEE endpoints per switch or a lower overall power budget.

￿￿Is there a recommended powering option?

￿￿No. Powering decisions depend on the customer’s environment. Either of the inline power methods can be used, or the standard Cisco IP Phone external power adapter can be used for local power.

Availability and Ordering

￿￿When can I order the Cisco IP Phone 7911G?

￿￿It will be orderable by December 2005, and like all new products, will initially be on controlled release.

￿￿Is a station user license required?

￿￿Yes. As with all Cisco phones, a station user license must be purchased with each phone. At FCS, customers will be able to select only a Cisco CallManager user license. When Cisco CME is supported, a Cisco CME license will be optional.

￿￿What items are included in the Cisco IP Phone 7911G list price?

￿￿The Cisco IP Phone 7911G ships with the base unit (with attached foot stand), a handset, a handset cord, an Ethernet cord, a pictorial quick start guide, Regulatory Compliance and Safety Information (RSCI), a Cisco 1-year limited hardware warranty card, and an end-user software license agreement.

7911G specifications

The Cisco Systems 7911G is a versatile IP phone designed to enhance communication in enterprise environments. Targeting workers in various organizational settings, this model is known for its reliability, ease of use, and robust features that cater to both basic and advanced telephony requirements.

One of the key features of the Cisco 7911G is its support for Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. Using this technology allows for the transmission of voice signals over the internet rather than through traditional telephone lines. This not only reduces telephony costs but also offers enhanced functionality that integrates seamlessly with existing communication systems.

The phone is equipped with a monochrome graphical display that provides users with clear visibility of their call status, directory information, and menu options. With a resolution of 128x64 pixels, the screen is large enough to offer important information without overwhelming the user. This simplicity makes it an ideal choice for users who require straightforward functionality without the complexity of advanced features.

Ergonomically designed, the Cisco 7911G features a comfortable keypad with dedicated buttons for frequently used functions such as mute, hold, and transfer. It supports multiple lines, providing users with the ability to manage multiple calls simultaneously. Additionally, it offers programmable line keys that can be customized for speed dial or as soft keys for quick access to features.

The device supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), which allows the phone to receive power through the network cable rather than needing a separate power source. This feature not only simplifies installation but also enhances mobility within the workspace, as it reduces cable clutter.

Another significant characteristic of the Cisco 7911G is its compatibility with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, which ensures centralized management of telephony systems. It also supports a range of audio codecs that help in delivering high-quality audio during calls, reducing latency and improving overall communication quality.

Security is also a focus with the Cisco 7911G, as it features a secure access feature that includes Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) for encrypted voice communications. This ensures that sensitive conversations are protected from eavesdropping.

Overall, the Cisco Systems 7911G is a reliable, feature-rich IP phone that provides an excellent solution for organizations looking to upgrade their communication systems. Its combination of user-friendly design, powerful integrations, and security features makes it a cornerstone in the suite of Cisco telecommunications solutions.
