Body Water/Hydration Levels

General health stand ards indicate that on e should consume ap proximately
64 oz. of water per day to maintain a healthy l evel of hydration. Th e
percentage of body wa ter should lie within the following ranges :
Female: 43-60%
Male: 50-65%
Maintaining these levels will help improve your overall health and gen eral
feeling of well-being. If your hydration levels are less than the r ecommended
levels in the chart above, you should increa se your water intake a ccordingly.
Body Water/Hydration Level – how is it mea sured?
The hydration level is m easured by using Bioele ctric Impedance Analysis (BIA).
The same analysis tha t is used to calcula te your body fat is used to calculate
your hydration level. Th e Thinner Body Water m icroprocessor again measures
impedance or transmi ssion speed through water. Taking into considerat ion a
user’s age and gender, a c alculation is made th at determines the p ercentage
of water.
Please Note: It is not reco mmended to take the hyd ration measurements in
certain situations, such as following exerc ise, after drinki ng a glass of water,
or directly prior to, during, or short ly after menstr ual cycles. Hydratio n may not
be at its normal leve l during these time s.

Instructions for use of Thinner® Bathroom Scales
Congratulations! By purchasing this
Thinner scale, you’ve made the first step
toward taking control of your weight.
To get the greatest benefit from your
purchase, please read this entire
brochure before using your scale.
TH402
This comprehensive dig ital scale provides all the information yo u need to
manage your weight and m onitor important body analysis func tions – all with
the touch of your toes! It measures weight, b ody fat, and body hydration level
with precision accura cy, and can be progra mmed for the entire f amily (up to 4
users). Simple to us e, with a large and eas y-to-read digital LCD s creen, it’s the
ultimate home scale for healthy weight manageme nt.
Body Fat Percentage – what does it mean?
Simply speaking, your body is made up of lean mass and fat ma ss. Lean mass
consists of muscle, bones, organs, etc. Fat mass is body fa t. While everyone
needs a certain am ount of fat to assi st the body in s toring energy, providing
heat insulation and othe r functions, mos t people will find t hey are at their mos t
fit when they increase their lean mass and decrease their fat mass.
While standard scale s are useful in provid ing a measurement of ov erall
weight, they do not ca lculate the percentag e of fat within the body. However,
this Thinner® Body Anal ysis Monitor allows t he user to check bo th of these
important measureme nts.
Body Fat Percentage – how is it measured?
The Thinner® Body Analy sis Monitor uses a technique called Bioe lectric
Impedance Analysis ( BIA). A harmless amount of a bioelec tric current is se nt
from the footpads thro ugh the body. This cu rrent travels at dif ferent speeds
through lean and fat bo dy masses. The s cale’s microprocessor a nalyzes the
degree of impedance, or transmission spe ed.
Taking into consideration the user’s height, age, ge nder and weight, the
Thinner® Body Analysis Monitor calculates t he composition of th e body.
The percentage of the body that is compo sed of fat is displ ayed on the
monitor – “body fat perc entage.”
