When drilling in smooth, hard surfaces (such as metal and hardwoods), use a center punch (sold separately) to mark the desired hole location. This will prevent the drill bit from slipping off center as the hole is started. The workpiece

to be drilled should be secured in a vise or clamped to a work surface to keep it from turning as the drill bit rotates (Fig. 5).

CAUTION: Do not force the drill bit against the material you are drilling.

The motor may overheat and break the drill bit. If the drill bit breaks, it must be replaced with a new drill bit.
