Removing the Coin-Cell Battery

Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery

CAUTION: Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.

NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Before Working Inside Your Computer) before working inside the computer.

Removing the Coin-Cell Battery

1.Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

2.Remove the hinge cover (see Removing the Hinge Cover).

3.Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard).

4.Insert a plastic scribe into the guide on the side of the coin-cell battery compartment, and pry out the battery.

Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery

1.When you replace the battery, insert it at a 30-degree angle under the clip with the positive (identified by a plus [+] symbol) side up, and then push it into place.

2.Replace the keyboard (see Replacing the Keyboard).

3.Replace the hinge cover (see Replacing the Hinge Cover).
