Engine Compartment

Never mount this unit in the engine compartment. Mounting the unit in the engine compartment will void your warranty.

Trunk Mounting

Mounting the amplifier vertically will provide adequate cooling of the amplifier. If you will be mounting it to an existing panel, be sure it’s not prone to excessive vibration (such as mounting to the back of a subwoofer enclosure). Excess vibration is not recommended for electronic products, amplifiers included. Mounting the amplifier flat on the floor of the trunk will provide the best cooling, however be cautious not to deposit baggage and other items over the top of the amplifier. Mounting the amplifier upside down to the rear deck of the trunk will NOT provide adequate heat dissipation and will severely affect the performance of the amplifier and is not recommended.

Passenger Compartment Mounting

Mounting the amplifier in the passenger compartment will work as long as you provide a sufficient amount of air for the amplifier to cool itself. If you are going to mount the amplifier under the seat of the vehicle, you must have at least 1 inch (2.54cm) of air gap around the amplifier’s heatsink. Mounting the amplifier with less than 1 inch (2.54cm) of air gap around the amplifier’s heatsink in the passenger compartment will not provide proper cooling and will severely affect the performance of the amplifier and is not recommended.

Vehicle Electrical System Requirements

Amplifiers (regardless of brand name) will put an increased load on the vehicle’s battery and charging system. DAT recommends checking your alternator and battery condition to ensure that the electrical system has enough capacity to handle the increased load of your stereo system. Original equipment electrical systems which are in good condition should be able to handle the extra load of any DAT ampli- fier without problems, although battery and alternator life can be reduced depending on your individual listening habits. To maximize the performance of your amplifier, we suggest the use of a reserve power "Stiffening"capacitor.

Wiring the Amplifier

CAUTION: Avoid running power wires near the low level input cables, antenna, power leads, sensitive equipment or harnesses. The power wires carry substantial current and could radiate noise into the audio system through the audio cables.

1) Plan the wire routing as described in the “Importance of Pre-Plan-

ning” section. Keep RCA cables close together but isolated from

the amplifier’s power cables and any high power auto accessories,

especially electric motors. This is done to prevent coupling the

time.

2)Prepare the power wire for attachment to the amplifier

by stripping 5/8 inch (15.9mm) of insulation from the end of the wire. Insert the bare wire into the B+ ter- minal and tighten the set screw to secure the cable in place.

NOTE: The B+ cable MUST be fused 18” or less from the vehicle’s positive battery post. Choose a location to install a waterproof fuseholder under the hood and ensure connections are water tight. If you do not use the appropriate fuseholder, the connection will eventually suffer corrosion from moisture and heat.

The D3 1000.1 is a powerhouse mono amplifier that delivers an impressive 1000 watts RMS at 1 ohm. One of its standout features is the Class D circuitry, which enhances efficiency and minimizes heat generation, allowing for a compact design without compromising power output. The inclusion of a variable low-pass filter allows users to tailor the frequency response, ensuring that bass notes are delivered with exceptional clarity and precision. Additionally, the built-in bass boost feature can enhance low-frequency performance, making it ideal for subwoofer applications.

Next in line is the D3 400.2, a versatile 2-channel amplifier designed for driving both component and coaxial speakers. With a power output of 400 watts RMS at 2 ohms, it strikes a balance between performance and practicality. The amplifier boasts a high-level input feature, allowing for easy integration with factory audio systems. Its adjustable crossover settings enable users to customize the sound profile to suit their preferences, ensuring a rich and immersive auditory experience.

The D3 500.4 acts as a 4-channel amplifier, providing versatility for multi-speaker setups. Delivering 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms, this model excels in driving both front and rear speakers simultaneously. It features a built-in high-pass filter that helps to protect speakers from frequencies they can’t handle while enhancing overall sound quality. Its compact design allows for seamless installation in various vehicle types, ensuring that space constraints do not compromise audio fidelity.

Lastly, the D3 600.1 is another mono amplifier that fits perfectly into the D3 lineup. With a power output of 600 watts RMS at 1 ohm, it offers substantial bass performance suitable for any subwoofer system. It also employs advanced thermal management technology, ensuring consistent performance while preventing overheating during prolonged use. The D3 600.1 features a full-range Class D design, combining efficiency with power that fans of deep bass will appreciate.
