Breast Milk Defrosting and Warming

1.Wash your hands thoroughly before handling breast milk.

2.It is recommended to defrost frozen breast milk in the refrigerator. If needed quickly -- defrost under cool, then warm running water.

DO NOT USE A MICROWAVE TO DEFROST OR WARM BREAST MILK.

Successful Breast Milk Expression

The Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Electric Breast Pump is very simple and easy to use. Like all breast pumps, you may need to try a few times before you succeed initially. Don’t give up – see below for some helpful tips:

1.Try not to express when you are rushed -- choose a time when you can relax, free of interruptions.

2.Let-down can be encouraged by having your baby (or your baby’s photo) nearby.

3.Warmth and relaxation can encourage milk flow.

4.Try expressing after a bath or a shower.

5.Try expressing from one breast while your baby is feeding from the other, or immediately pumping after nursing your baby.

If you experience difficulties with breast milk expression, please consult a lactation consultant or your doctor.
