Creating Backup Profiles

Any profile can act as a backup connection in case a pri- mary connection fails. The following example demonstrates a simple scenario on the Eicon 1551.

Two profiles have been created: VHSI-main and ISDN- backup.

As shown below, on the profile page for ‘VHSI-main’, the profile ‘ISDN-backup’ has been defined as the backup pro- file for ‘VHSI-main’.

‘Backup’ setting

Additionally, you could assign a backup profile to ‘ISDN- backup’ in case that connection is unavailable. It could be another ISDN profile or a VHSI profile.

The Eicon 1550 does not have an ISDN port. However, if you are using X.25, a second VHSI profile can be created and used as a backup in case the primary connection fails.
