Beamwidth

The axial directivity factor Rθ. (formerly Q) of the HP94 horn was computed at each one-third-octave center frequency from the horizontal/vertical polars. The graph in Figure 2 illustrates this data over the range 630 Hz to 20 kHz. The axial frequency response of the HP94 with a particular driver is in close correspondence to that driver’s power response above 1.6 kHz.

A plot of the HP94’s 6-dB-down total included beamwidth angle is shown in Figure 3 for each one-third-octave center frequency. The horizontal beamwidth is maintained at 90° (+30°, -10°) over the range of 1.2 kHz to 20 kHz. Vertical beamwidth is maintained at 40° (+20°, -10°) over the range 2.1 kHz to 20 kHz.

HP94 specifications

The Electro-Voice HP94 is a versatile and high-performance microphone that has made its mark in both live sound and studio environments. Known for its exceptional sound quality and robust construction, the HP94 is designed to meet the demands of professional audio engineers and musicians alike.

One of the standout features of the HP94 is its hypercardioid pickup pattern. This design allows it to capture sound directly from the front while minimizing ambient noise and feedback from the sides and rear. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for live performances where controlling sound quality is paramount. The hypercardioid pattern also aids in isolating vocals or instruments, ensuring clear and focused audio reproduction.

The HP94 utilizes advanced microphone technology, including a high-performance transducer that delivers a wide frequency response. It provides a rich and natural sound character, enhancing vocal clarity and presence while also accommodating a variety of musical styles and instruments. The frequency response spans from 30 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring that both low and high-end frequencies are reproduced accurately.

In terms of build quality, the HP94 is constructed with durable materials that can withstand the rigors of frequent use. Its rugged metal chassis not only adds to its longevity but also helps minimize handling noise, allowing for clean recordings even in dynamic performance situations. The microphone is designed to perform reliably in various environments, making it a trusted choice for touring musicians and sound engineers.

Another notable feature is the internal shock mount system, which reduces handling noise and unwanted vibrations. This ensures that only the desired sound is captured, contributing to a higher quality recording or performance. Additionally, the HP94 is equipped with a pop filter that minimizes plosive sounds, providing clean vocal recordings without distortion.

The Electro-Voice HP94 is compatible with various audio equipment, making it a flexible choice for different setups. Whether used with a PA system, recording interface, or mixing console, the microphone’s performance remains consistent and top-notch.

In summary, the Electro-Voice HP94 combines advanced technology, durable construction, and professional-grade sound quality, making it an excellent choice for both live performances and studio recordings. Its hypercardioid pickup pattern, wide frequency response, and internal shock mount system collectively contribute to its capability as a trusted and effective microphone for any audio professional.
