

AntennaGroundingOutsidetheHouse

Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedtothereceiver,besuretheantennasystemisgroundedsoastoprovidesomeprotection

againstvoltagesurgesandbuilt‐upstaticcharges.Article810oftheNationalElectricalCode,ANSI/NFPA70,provides

informationwithregardtopropergroundingofthelead‐inwiretoanantenna‐dischargeunit,connectiontogrounding

electrodes,andrequirementsforthegroundingelectrode.



Alwaysobserveproperantennaorsatellitedishgroundingtechniques.Whenlightningstrikesthereisalwaysthepossibility

thatyourantennaordish(mountedhighontheroof)canbecomeaconduitforlightningandelectricallydamageany

equipmenttowhichit’sconnected.��Additionally,propergroundingofferssafetytothepeopleusingtheaudio/videosystem

intheeventofanelectricalproblem.


