Using AutoExposure
The AutoExposure tool checks the scan image for the brightest and darkest points, and sets the highlight and shadow points according to a preset formula. It also adjusts the midtones (tones between extreme bright and dark) to align with the extreme points for an overall brighter image.
AutoExposure can be used for color or grayscale images. It is not needed for line art
