Pulsense PS-500

Quick Start
Read these instructions before using your product.

Charge your product

Before using your product for the first time, make sure the
battery is fully charged. Charging takes approximately 2.5 to
3.5 hours. A full charge lasts about 36 hours.
Caution: Do not attach the charging cradle when the PS-500 is
wet. If the PS-500 is wet, wipe it with a damp cloth, remove the
moisture with a towel, then let it air dry before attaching the
charging cradle.
1. Open the charging cradle and insert the PS-500 as shown.
2. Insert the USB plug into a power source. You can use:
Computer (using a free USB port)
Optional USB AC Adapter (part number SFAC04)
The orange LED lights up when your PS-500 is connected
correctly. Charging is complete when the blue LED is lit.

Install Epson PULSENSE

View

Download Epson PULSENSE View from your mobile
device’s app store.
The following mobile devices are supported:
iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5s with iOS
7.1 or later
Mobile device running AndroidTM 4.3 or later with
Bluetooth® Smart

Launch the app and pair your

PS-500

You must pair your PS-500 through the Epson PULSENSE
View app. The PS-500 will not store any data until you’ve
paired it with the app.
Follow these steps:
1. Start the Epson PULSENSE View app.
2. Make sure that the PS-500 is within 3 feet (1 meter) of the
mobile device.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your PS-500
with your mobile device and perform the initial
configuration.
The PS-500 can store up to 480 hours of data before needing
to be synced.

LED status

The LEDs on the PS-500 light up or flash to indicate different
states. When exercising, the LEDs indicate which zone you’re
currently in. The PS-500 vibrates when entering or leaving a
zone.

Wearing your PS-500

Keep these tips in mind when wearing your PS-500:
The PS-500 needs to be worn snugly around the wrist to
collect more accurate heart rate data. This may cause a
slight impression on the wrist. Adjust the PS-500 for the
comfort and performance you choose.
When wearing the PS-500, make sure it does not touch
the ulna bone.
For greater accuracy, wear the PS-500 on your
non-dominant wrist.
Tap the watch face to turn on the backlight.
Before boarding an aircraft, power off your PS-500 by
selecting Power off from the System settings menu.

Calibrating your heart rate

To personalize your heart rate zones and calibrate the sleep
monitoring feature, wear your PS-500 for 2 to 7 days while
you sleep. The accuracy of your heart rate zone and sleep data
will improve after the PS-500 has calibrated your resting heart
rate.

Using PULSENSE View

You can view live and collected data, such as heart rate, steps,
calories, and sleep, from your PS-500 using the PULSENSE
View mobile app.
If you do not have a mobile device, you can use your
Windows computer to upload data to the PULSENSE View
web application. Download the PS Uploader software
(Windows 8.x, Windows 7, or Windows Vista required) from
epson.com/support/ps500 (U.S.) or epson.ca/support/ps500
(Canada).
The PS-500 vibrates when entering or leaving a zone. To
turn off vibration, go to > Device Settings >
Vibration in the PULSENSE View app. See the in-app
help for more information about vibration.
If you are missing data, note that data collected before
pairing with the app cannot be viewed.
If you are having trouble pairing, make sure you are
pairing from the PULSENSE View app, not from your
system’s Bluetooth settings.
If heart rate monitoring is turned off, press the A button
to turn it back on.
The PS-500 time is set by the PULSENSE View app or
the PS Uploader software. Connect the PS-500 to one of
these programs to update the time.
