Cleaning the Product

To keep your product working at its best, you should clean it several times a year.
Caution: Do not use a hard brush, benzene, alcohol, or paint thinner to clean the product or you may
damage it. Do not place anything on top of the cover or use the cover as a writing surface, or it could get
permanently scratched. Do not use oil or other lubricants inside the product or let water get inside.
1. Turn off the product.
2. Unplug the power cable.
3. Disconnect any connected cables.
4. Remove all the paper from the product.
5. Clean the paper cassette or cassettes using a soft brush.
6. Clean the outer case with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent.
Note: Close the rear paper feed slot and output tray when you are not using the product.

Transporting Your Product

If you need to ship your product or transport it a long distance, prepare it for transportation as described
here.
Caution: During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines:
Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.
Leave the ink cartridges installed. Removing the cartridges can dry out the print head and may prevent
the product from printing.
