D-520 specifications

The First Alert D-520 is a state-of-the-art smoke and carbon monoxide detector that prioritizes safety and reliability in residential settings. As a leader in home safety products, First Alert has designed the D-520 to cater to the increasing need for effective detection of potential household hazards. This innovative device combines advanced technology with user-friendly features to ensure that families are kept safe at all times.

One of the standout features of the D-520 is its dual-sensor technology. This detector employs both photoelectric and ionization sensing capabilities to identify smoke from both smoldering and flaming fires. The photoelectric sensor is particularly effective for detecting slow-burning fires, such as those caused by furniture and bedding, while the ionization sensor is more responsive to fast-flaming fires, like those from paper or flammable liquids. This two-pronged approach significantly increases the chances of early detection, giving families vital extra time to escape in the event of a fire.

In addition to smoke detection, the D-520 features an integrated carbon monoxide sensor, providing an all-in-one solution for home safety. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas produced by the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, making it particularly dangerous. With the D-520, homeowners can rest assured knowing they are protected from this silent threat.

The First Alert D-520 is also designed for convenience and ease of use. It comes equipped with a voice alarm that announces the type of emergency detected, whether it’s smoke or carbon monoxide. This helps occupants quickly understand the nature of the threat, reducing confusion during critical moments when quick decisions are essential.

Another important characteristic of the D-520 is its long-lasting battery. The device features a sealed lithium battery that can last up to ten years, eliminating the need for frequent battery replacements. This is particularly beneficial, as it encourages users to maintain their detectors and ensures the unit remains functional for its entire lifespan.

Installation of the D-520 is straightforward, making it accessible for users of all experience levels. The device is designed for wall or ceiling mounting, and it includes all necessary hardware for a prompt and easy setup.

In summary, the First Alert D-520 exemplifies the blend of technology, reliability, and user-friendliness needed in modern smoke and carbon monoxide detection. With its dual-sensor technology, integrated CO monitoring, voice alerts, and long-lasting battery, it serves as an essential tool for safeguarding families against the dangers of fire and poisoning, making it a recommended choice for any home safety plan.
