FAS-124 specifications

The First Alert FAS-124 is a compact yet powerful smoke and carbon monoxide detector designed to enhance home safety. This device combines advanced technologies and features to provide homeowners with a reliable level of protection against potential fire hazards and harmful carbon monoxide exposure.

One of the standout features of the FAS-124 is its photoelectric smoke detection system. This technology is particularly effective in identifying slow-smoldering fires, which are often associated with common household items like upholstery and mattresses. Unlike traditional ionization detectors, which can be less effective in certain fire scenarios, the photoelectric sensor responds more quickly to smoke in these situations, providing an earlier warning to occupants.

Additionally, the FAS-124 incorporates a carbon monoxide detection feature, which is essential for safeguarding families from this odorless and colorless gas. The device is equipped with a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor that can detect low levels of carbon monoxide, alerting users to the presence of this dangerous gas before it reaches life-threatening concentrations.

The First Alert FAS-124 is designed with user convenience in mind. It features a single test/silence button that allows for easy testing of the alarm and silencing of false alarms. This functionality is critical for user satisfaction, as it minimizes unnecessary interruptions while ensuring the device remains functional at all times. The unit also comes with a low battery warning system, which alerts users when it’s time to replace the batteries, ensuring ongoing functionality.

Another important characteristic of the FAS-124 is its installation flexibility. The detector can be easily mounted on walls or ceilings, making it suitable for various home layouts. Additionally, the compact design ensures it can blend seamlessly into any room without being obtrusive.

In terms of power, the First Alert FAS-124 typically operates on batteries, which means it remains functional even during power outages, providing peace of mind during emergencies. This feature is crucial for maintaining continuous safety coverage throughout the home.

Overall, the First Alert FAS-124 is a versatile and reliable smoke and carbon monoxide detector that leverages advanced detection technologies to provide comprehensive safety. With its combination of photoelectric smoke detection, carbon monoxide sensing capabilities, and user-friendly features, it is an essential device for any safety-conscious homeowner, ensuring a proactive approach to protecting loved ones from fire and gas hazards.
