Priorto descentpath interception,the SelectedAltitude mustbe setbelow thecurrentaircraft altitude
byatleast75 feet.Fortheight directortotransitionfrom AltitudeHoldtoVerticalPathTrackingMode,
acknowledgmentisrequiredwithin5minutesofdescentpathinterceptionby:
•PressingtheVNV Key
•AdjustingtheSelectedAltitude
If acknowledgment is not received within 1 minute of descent path interception,the white ‘VPTH’
annunciationstartstoash. Flashingcontinues untilacknowledgedorthe descentpathis intercepted.If
thedescentisnotconrmedbythetimeofinterception,VerticalPathTrackingModeremainsarmedandthe
descent is not captured.
Inconjunctionwiththe“TOD[topofdescent]within1minute”annunciationintheNavigationStatusBox
andthe“VerticalTrack”voicemessage,VNVindications(VNVTargetAltitude,verticaldeviation,andvertical
speedrequired)appearonthePFDinmagenta(Figure7-11).
