A. GETTINGSTARTED

1.Firmlypushthe femaleendof the powercord into the powercord receptacle(A) locatedon the backof the machine

hCAUTIDN:Makesure this step is completeprior to

~pluggingthe male end of the powercord into a power receptacle.

2.Plugthe maleendof the powercord into an appropriate powerreceptacle.

3.Firmlyattachfoot pedalcordto receptaclelocatedon back of machine.

B. DETERMINESHEETWIDTH

1.SetEdgeGuide(B) to papersizeyou wish to bind (11", 8-1/2" lettersize,11-1/4"oversizedcover,A4 ring,A5, JapanA4) (seefigure 1). Whenusingoversizedcovers,set

the EdgeGuideon Covers,punchall of the coversfor your job andsetaside.Movethe EdgeGuidebackto the 11"

settingto punchyour contentsthen bind.

2.Raiselid on cover(0), andpull up appropriateselector pinsto disengagepunchpinsthat maynickthe edgeof yoursheet.Todeterminewhichpins shouldbe pulledup followthe punchstepsindicatedin section"0" usingblank test paper

C.DETERMINEPLASTICCDMBSIZE

1.Slidethe BinderSizeropen(C) (seefigure 1).

2.PlacedocumentincludingcoversbehindBinderSizer.

3.Releasethe BinderSizerandselectthe combbinding elementthat correspondswith the sizeshownby guide. Onlycombsizesup to 1" (25 mm) areshown.Your OocuBindcanbinddocumentsup to 425 sheets,or 2" (50mm)combsize.Forbestresults,alwaysuseGBC brandcoverswith GBCcolor-coordinatedbindingcombs.

4.Adjustthe PunchBackGuide(C1)to the settingthat correspondswith the plasticcombsizeto be used.

D. PUNCHINGPAPER(seefigure2)

1.UtI the WirePaperSuppol1(0) into place(optional).

2.Alignsheetsor coversandinsel1edgeto be boundinto punchthroat(01).

3.Jog the sheetsuntil theyareflush againstthe edgeguide andthe bottomof the punchthroat.Allowthe paperto rest againstthe Wire PaperSupport,or,you may

preferto holdthe sheetsin placewith one hand.

4.Topunch,pressthe PUNCH~ button(D2)or depress thefoot pedal(D3).TheDocuBindP400punchesup to 21 sheetsof 20 Ib./80grampaperat once.PunchonlyTWO clearcoversat a time to preventjamsandexcessivewear.

5.If you try to punchtoo manysheetsGBC'spatented"Jam Stopper"safeguardfeaturewill automaticallystopand reversethe punchdie.At this timethe yellowLEDindicator will temporarilyflash. Removethe paperfrom the punch throatanddecreaseit'sthicknessbeforetrying to punch

again.

E. BINDING

1.Placea PlasticCombBindingElementbehindtheVertical Comb(E)with the openportionof elementfacingyou (see figure 3).

2.Rotatethe BindLeverup (E1)towardyou untilthe Comb BindingElement(E2)openssufficientlyto insertyour document(seefigure 4).

3.Threadfront coverfinishedsidefacingdown (seefigure5), ontoopenBindingElementFingers(E3).Threadpages, front facingdown,onto element. Repeatfor largedocu- mentsas required.Placethe backcover,finishedside facingupwardon openBindingElementFingerslast.

4.Pushthe BindLeverawayfrom you backto its original positionto closethe bindingelement.

5.Removebookby lifting upward.Yourpresentationis nowcomplete!

6.Onceyou becomefamiliarwith your DocuBindP400, you will find that you can bindasyou punch,increasing

your productivity.

F.EMPTYCHIPDRAWER

1EmptyChipDrawer(F)after repeateduse.Pulldrawer gentlytowardyou to open.Whenputtingbackin, the drawerwill snapinto place(seefigure6).
