G5955 Heavy-Duty Hanging Air Filter -11-
The G5955 Hanging Air Filter is designed to recir-
culate the entire volume of air in a room measur-
ing 25' X 25' X 8' approximately 6 times in one
hour. It is recommended that the volume of air in
your room be recirculated 6-8 times every hour
for best filtering effect. Hence, rooms with a larg-
er volume than the one listed above will require 2
or more air filters to achieve proper filtering. The
following is a formula for calculating the recircu-
lating rate for a given volume:
Step 1. Calculate how long it takes to circulate all
the volume of air in a room with the hanging air fil-
ter; by dividing 60 minutes by the amount of time
it takes to circulate the volume once. The rate of
air movement for the air filter is 510 cubic feet per
minute.
W X L X H = Minutes for circulating 1 time
510
Step 2. Calculate how many times per hour the
volume is recirculated through the hanging air fil-
ter. The result is is listed as times per hour.
Step 1: 25' X 25' X 8' = 5000 = 9.8 Minutes
510 510
Step 2: 60 = 6.1 Times per Hour
9.8
It is very important that the hanging air filter be
supported properly. Please use these guidelines
when preparing to mount the unit:
For the sake of clarity, the face where the
mounting brackets attach will be called the
top throughout the manual. The hanging air
filter can be mounted on its side, top or at an
angle but it can only be secured by the
mounting brackets on its top.
Make sure that an electrical outlet with a
properly grounded receptacle is available at
the location you choose.
The hanging air filter must be supported by
joists or studs. These joists/studs should be
capable of supporting at least 100 lbs. Do
Not attach the hanging air filter to sheet rock,
press board or paneling. These cannot sup-
port the filter and it may fall.
Avoid hitting your head on the hanging air fil-
ter. Make sure there is enough clearance
between the unit and the ground; especially
important in a basement. If possible, position
the air filter in an area that has little foot traf-
fic but still offers easy access to the switch
and filters.
