warming position Fig. 8 . Press down the bread control lever . Operate the toaster once or twice empty at this setting to get rid of the “ new smell ”. Ventilate the room.

TOASTING BREAD

With the bread control lever in the raised position, place a slice of bread in the slot Fig. 2 . Turn the control knob to a position between 1 and 7, according to the freshness of the bread Fig. 3 .

Adjusting the toasting for the desired result:

1

Barely toasted

4 - 5

Well browned

2 - 3 Lightly toasted

6 - 7

Very brown

Push down the bread control lever. This will lock into the down position and the support grids will automatically centre the slices between the heating elements for perfect toasting on both sides Fig. 4 .

This model is electronic. The bread control lever will only lock in the down position if the toaster is plugged in.

Reduce the setting of the control knob if you are only toasting one slice.

When toasting is complete, the bread control lever will unlock and the toasted slices of bread will pop up.

STOP/EJECT FUNCTION

To interrupt toasting or warming, press the Stopbutton Fig. 6 .

Never attempt to force the bread control lever up, you run the risk of damaging the mechanism.

HI-LIFT FUNCTION

In order to grasp small slices of toast more easily, lift the bread control lever higher once toasting has finished Fig. 5 .

The hot air from the toaster will be spread out by the heat-diffusing top to heat the buns evenly. When the toaster stops, the bread control lever will pop up.

To warm the other side, turn over the rolls, buns or croissants, using an oven glove or bread tongs if necessary (gloves and bread tongs not supplied), on the heat-diffusing top while it is still hot Fig. 9 . Leave for 1 or 2 minutes or start the toaster again, as required.

The heat-diffusing top becomes very hot. Avoid touching it.

LOOKING AFTER AND CLEANING YOUR TOASTER

Clean your toaster regularly.

After use and before cleaning, maintenance or putting it away, discon- nect the appliance and allow it to cool.

To clean the crumb collector drawer: pull out the drawer and empty the crumbs. This should be done regularly, ideally after each use (toasting or heating) Fig. 10 . After each use, check that the drawer is correctly inserted and pushed home.

If crusts, crumbs or other debris remain trapped in the toaster or between the heating elements, turn it upside down to allow the crumbs to fall out of the top.

Never insert a metal object in the toaster; this can cause serious damage.

Wipe over the outside of the toaster and the supply cable with a damp

cloth. Dry Fig. 1 .

To care for your toaster, never use aggressive products (soda based oven cleaner, metal cleaner, bleach etc.) or metal utensils, scourers or abrasive pads.

Do not use metal (stainless steel, copper etc.) cleaners on the heat- diffusing top. Use a soft cloth or a damp sponge with washing up liquid and then dry.

Do not wash the crumb collector drawer in the dishwasher.

WARMING ROLLS, BUNS, CROISSANTS, ETC.

Place the rolls, buns or croissants directly on top of the toaster . Do not use the toaster to toast bread and heat buns at the same time. Do not use the heat-diffusing top to cook or defrost frozen food. Do not heat fatty or sugary food that might melt and drop into the toaster as this may risk a fire or damage the toaster.

Turn the control knob to the bun warming position Fig. 8 . Push down the bread control lever until it locks.

STORAGE

Wait until the toaster has cooled completely before putting it away, otherwise considerable damage can be caused, especially in confined spaces.

To tidy away the mains cord, wind it around the cord storage in the bottom of the toaster Fig. 11 .

The packaging is recyclable but can be useful to transport the toas- ter or return it to an approved service centre (see list attached).
