Homelite UT44170 Switch Trigger, Starting And Stopping, Installing/removing the extension handle

OPERATION

Install padlock (not included) or lockout pin into switch trigger slot. Keep both hands away from switch.

NOTE: The lockout pin does not protect against unauthorized usage.

Unlatch and remove the bottom cover.

Remove the attached blade, if necessary.

Install the desired blades into the slot on the bottom of the grass shear/shrubber.

Reattach the bottom cover by sliding it into the slots on the bottom of the grass shear/shrubber until it clicks into place.

Remove padlock from switch trigger slot.

LOCK-OFF BUTTON

See Figure 5.

The lock-off button reduces the possibility of accidental starting. The lock-off button is located on the handle above the switch trigger. The lock-off button must be depressed before you pull the switch trigger. The lock resets each time the trigger is released.

NOTE: You can depress the lock-off button from either the left or right side.

SWITCH TRIGGER

See Figure 5.

To prevent unauthorized use of the grass shear/shrubber, disconnect it from the power supply and lock the switch in the off position. To lock the switch, install a padlock (not included) through the hole in the switch trigger. A lock with a long shackle up to 9/32 in. diameter may be used. When the lock is installed and locked, the switch is inoperable. Store the padlock key in another location.

STARTING AND STOPPING

See Figure 5.

To start:

Depress the lock-off button.

Depress the switch trigger.

To stop:

Release the switch trigger.

Installing/removing the extension handle

See Figure 6.

The grass shear/shrubber can be used with or without the extension handle.

To install the extension handle:

Stop the motor.

Unplug the rubber stopper from grass shear/shrubber extension handle slot.

Insert extension handle end into grass shear/shrubber extension handle slot.

Insert the electrical cord into the electrical outlet on the grass shear/shrubber.

Reattach the bottom cover by sliding it into the slots on the bottom of the grass shear/shrubber until it clicks into place.

Remove padlock from switch trigger slot.
