3. Place your foot on the STEP of the mower housing.
4. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly.

CAUTION: Don’t allow the rope to snap back; return it gently by hand.
Otherwise, the starting mechanism might be damaged. While the engine is
in operation, don’t pull the starter grip or damage may result.
5. After the engine warms up, move the throttle lever to HI. Push the
ROTO-STOP lever forward to put the cutting blade into operation.
NOTE: If the engine is warm or the air temperature is high, move the throt-
tle lever away from the choke position as soon as the engine starts.
Select shift lever position 1 (slow) or 2 (fast), and push the drive clutch
lever forward to propel the mower.
NOTE: Use higher throttle settings to maintain engine speed when cutting
heavy grass.
