Choke open.
Ignition switch OFF.
Out of fuel.
Bad fuel; pump stored
without treating or
draining gasoline, or
refuel with bad
gasoline.
Low oillevel caused Oil
Alert to stop engine.
Spark plugfaulty,
fouled, or improperly
gapped.
Spark plug wet with
fuel (flooded engine).
Fuel filter clogged,
carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Air filter clogged.
Bad fuel; pump stored
without treating or
draining gasoline, or
refuel with bad
gasoline.
Fuel filter clogged,
carburetor malfunction,
ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Check air filter.
Check fuel.
Take engine to an
authorized Honda
servicingdealer, or
refertoshopmanual.
Check control
positions.
Check fuel.
Check engine oil
level.
Remove and inspect
spark plug.
Take engine to an
authorized Honda
servicingdealer, or
refertoshopmanual.
Clean or replace filter
(p. 33 ).
Drain fuel tankand
carburetor (p. 44 ).
Refuel with fresh

Replace or repair faulty

Move fuelvalve lever
to ON position.
Move chokelever to
CLOSED position
unless engine is warm.
Turn ignition switch to
ON.
Refuel (p.27 )
Drain fuel tankand
carburetor (p. 44 ).
Refuel with fresh
gasoline (p. 27 ).
Add oil (p. 29 ).
Clean, gap,or replace
spark plug(p. 35 ).
Dry and reinstall spark
plug. Start engine with
throttle lever in FAST
position.
Replace or repair faulty
components as
necessary.
