Overview
Beginning on January 29, 2013, Microsoft started rolling out the latest version of the Microsoft Office software suite, Microsoft Office 2013. As such, Microsoft will be discontinuing existing versions of Microsoft Office 2010 currently available with CMIT platforms.
Questions and Answers
Will existing preinstalled software images that currently include Office 2010 be affected?
Yes, all currently shipping CMIT platforms that include Microsoft Office 2010 will be required to transition to the new Microsoft Office 2013 OPK.
When will new preinstalled images be released with Office 2013 OPK?
∙Affected CMIT desktop platforms (both Windows 7/Windows 8) will be released with the new Office 2013 OPK software in April (The exception is the HP Pro 6305 platform which will refresh in June). Note, the Office 2013 OPK software an interface that allows a customer to activate a trial version of Office from Microsoft or purchase a full version of the software from Microsoft.
∙Affected CMIT notebook platforms with Windows 7 preinstalled will be updated with the new Office 2013 OPK software beginning in April. Note, the Office 2013 OPK software an interface that allows a customer to activate a trial version of Office from Microsoft or purchase a full version of the software from Microsoft.
∙Affected CMIT notebook platforms with Windows 8 preinstalled will be updated with the new Office 2013 OPK software beginning in July. Note, the Office 2013 OPK software an interface that allows a customer to activate a trial version of Office from Microsoft or purchase a full version of the software from Microsoft.
Will the configurable Microsoft Office Media Kits be affected as well?
∙Yes, Microsoft Office 2010 Professional and Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business will both be discontinued and replaced with comparable Office 2013 versions beginning in April.
Will there be any other changes to image as part of transition.
∙Yes, affected CMIT platforms with Windows 7 preinstalled will be updated with new multimedia software offered by CyberLink. All previous multimedia software from ArcSoft, Corel, Roxio will be removed and updated with comparable software offerings and features (i.e. burning, DVD/Blu- ray playback, photo and video viewing/editing) from CyberLink.
