When to calibrate

Even if a battery is heavily used, it should not be necessary to calibrate it more than once a month. It is not necessary to calibrate a new battery. Calibrate a battery under the following conditions:

When battery charge displays seem inaccurate

When you observe a significant change in battery run time

When the battery has been unused for one month or more

How to calibrate

Three steps are involved in calibrating a battery: fully charging, fully discharging, and then fully recharging.

Step 1: Charging the battery

A battery can charge whether the computer is off or in use, but it will charge faster when the computer is off.

WARNING! Do not charge the computer battery on board aircraft.

To charge the battery:

1.Insert the battery into the computer.

2.Connect the computer to an AC adapter, optional power adapter, or optional expansion product, and then plug the adapter or device into external power.

The battery light on the computer is turned on.

3.Leave the computer plugged into external power until the battery is fully charged. The battery light on the computer is turned off.
