OPERATINGAND SAFETY PRECAUTIONSREAD,UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW THIS INFORMATION TO AVOID INJURYAND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

HAZARDOUSPRESSURE
WARNIN G EXCESSIVEAIR PRESSURE. Can cause person-
alinjury, pump damage or property damage.
SDonot exceed the maximum inlet air pressure as stated on the
pumpmodel plate.
SBesure material hoses and other components are able to with-
standfluid pressures developed by this pump. Check all hoses
fordamage or wear. Be certain dispensing device is clean and
inproper working condition.
WARNIN G STATICSPARK.Cancause explosion resulting in
severeinjury or death. Ground pump and pumping system.
SSparkscan ignite flammable material and vapors.
SThe pumping system and object being sprayed must be
groundedwhen it is pumping, flushing, recirculating or spray-
ing flammable materials such as paints, solvents, lacquers,
etc. or used in a location where surrounding atmosphere is
conduciveto spontaneous combustion. Ground the dispens-
ingvalve or device, containers, hoses and any object to which
materialis being pumped.
S666056-XXXand 66605H-XXX Groundable Acetal pumps: Use
thepump grounding screw provided. Connect a 12 ga. (mini -
mum)wire (kit is included) to a good earth ground source.
SSecure pump, connections and all contact points to avoid
vibrationand generation of contact or static spark.
SConsultlocal building codes and electrical codes for specific
groundingrequirements.
SAftergrounding,periodically verifycontinuity ofelectrical path
toground. Test with an ohmmeter from each component (e.g.,
hoses, pump, clamps, container, spray gun, etc.) to ground to
insurecontinuity. Ohmmeter should show 0.1 ohms or less.
SSubmersethe outlet hose end, dispensing valve or device in
thematerial being dispensed if possible. (Avoid free streaming
ofmaterial being dispensed.)
SUsehoses incorporating a static wire.
SUseproper ventilation.
SKeepinflammables away from heat, open flames and sparks.
SKeepcontainers closed when not in use.
WARNIN G Pump exhaust may contain contaminants. Can
causesevereinjury. Pipeexhaust awayfromwork areaand per-
sonnel.
SInthe event of a diaphragm rupture material can be forced out
ofthe air exhaust muffler.
SPipethe exhaust to a safe remote location when pumping haz-
ardousor inflammable materials.
SUsea grounded 3/8” minimum i.d. hose between the pump and
themuffler.
WARNIN G HAZARDOUSPRESSURE. Can result in serious
injury or property damage. Do not service or clean pump,
hosesor dispensing valve while the system is pressurized.
SDisconnectair supply line and relieve pressure from the sys -
temby opening dispensing valve or device and / or carefully
andslowly loosening and removing outlet hose or piping from
pump.
WARNIN G HAZARDOUSMATERIALS.Can causeseriousin -
juryorproperty damage. Donot attempt to return a pump to the
factory or service center that contains hazardous material.
Safe handling practices must comply with local and national
lawsand safety code requirements.
SObtain Material Safety Data Sheets on all materials from the
supplierfor proper handling instructions.
CAUTION Verify the chemical compatibility of the pump
wettedparts and the substance being pumped, flushed or re-
circulated.Chemical compatibility may change with tempera-
ture and concentration of the chemical(s) within the
substancesbeing pumped, flushed or circulated. For specific
fluidcompatibility, consult the chemical manufacturer.
CAUTION Maximumtemperatures are based on mechani -
cal stress only. Certain chemicals will significantly reduce
maximum safe operating temperature. Consult the chemical
manufacturerfor chemical compatibility and temperature lim-
its.RefertoPumpDataonpage1ofthismanual.
CAUTION Becertain all operators of this equipment have
beentrained for safe working practices, understand it’s limita-
tions, and wear safety goggles / equipment when required.
CAUTION Donot use the pump for the structural support of
the piping system. Be certain the system components are
properlysupported to prevent stress on the pump parts.
SSuctionand discharge connections should be flexible connec-
tions(such as hose), not rigid piped, and should be compatible
withthe substance being pumped.
CAUTION Prevent unnecessary damage to the pump. Do
notallowpump to operate when out of material for long periods
oftime.
SDisconnectair line from pump when system sits idle for long
periodsof time.
CAUTION Useonly genuine ARO replacement parts to as -
surecompatible pressure rating and longest service life.
NOTICE Install the pump in the vertical position. The
pumpmay not prime properly if the balls do not check by gravi-
tyupon start -up.
NOTICE Re-torqueall fasteners before operation. Creep
ofhousing and gasket materials may cause fasteners to loos-
en.Re-torqueall fasteners to insure against fluid or air leakage.
NOTICE Replacementwarning labels are available upon
request:“Static Spark” pn \ 93616-1, “Diaphragm Rupture” pn \
93122.
