Chapter 5 PCI Graphic Setup

5.1 Introduction

The PCM-9586 has an onboard PCI/AGP flat panel/VGA interface. The specifications and features are described as follows:

5.1.1 Chipset

The PCM-9586 uses a Intel 852GM (Extreme Graphics 2) chipset for its graphic controller. It supports LVDS LCD displays, conventional analog CRT monitors, DVI connection, and TV-out function.

5.1.2 Display memory

The 852GM system m chip can support up to 64MB dynamic frame buffer shared with system memory; the VGA controller can drive CRT displays up to 1600 x 1200 at 85-Hz and 2048 x 1536 at 75-Hz, color panel displays in LVDS model with resolutions up to UGXA panel reso- lution with frequency range from 25 MHz to 112 MHz, or DVI model at a pixel resolution up to 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz.

5.1.3 Display types

CRT and panel displays can be used simultaneously. The PCM-9586 can be set in one of six configurations: CRT only, LVDS only, both CRT and LFP (LVDS), EFP (DVO to DVI), TV, both CRT and EFP (DVO to DVI). The system is initially set to simultaneous display mode - CRT and LFP (LDVS). If you want to enable other display mode, please set up manually. Set up example is shown as in the following chapters.

M600 specifications

The Intel M600 is a cutting-edge mobile processor specifically designed to cater to the evolving needs of portable computing devices. This series represents a significant advancement in Intel's mobile architecture, focusing on performance, energy efficiency, and integrated graphics capabilities. With its innovative technology and features, the M600 series aims to deliver a seamless user experience for both everyday tasks and demanding applications.

One of the standout features of the Intel M600 is its use of the advanced 10nm manufacturing process. This allows for better power efficiency and higher transistor density compared to its predecessors, enabling devices to achieve longer battery life while maintaining robust performance. This process technology not only contributes to lower thermal output but also enhances overall system reliability, making it suitable for a wide array of devices.

The M600 series includes multiple cores and threads, ensuring significant multitasking capabilities. This design empowers users to run multiple applications simultaneously without experiencing slowdowns, which is vital for productivity in a mobile environment. Intel's Turbo Boost technology further enhances performance by dynamically increasing clock speeds based on workload, delivering additional power when it's needed most.

Another critical aspect of the M600 series is its integrated graphics processing unit (GPU). With superior graphics capabilities, the M600 is well-suited for handling multimedia tasks, gaming, and creative applications without the need for a separate graphics card. This integration simplifies design and reduces costs for device manufacturers while providing users with an exceptional visual experience.

Security is also a significant focus of the Intel M600 series. It incorporates advanced security features such as Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), which enables the creation of secure enclaves for sensitive data processing. This is particularly crucial for businesses and users who prioritize data protection in their mobile devices.

In summary, the Intel M600 represents a leap forward in mobile processing technology. With its powerful multi-core architecture, efficient 10nm process, robust integrated graphics, and enhanced security features, it is designed to meet the demands of modern mobile computing. Whether for business professionals, students, or casual users, the Intel M600 ensures that devices equipped with this processor can deliver excellent performance while maintaining optimal energy efficiency.
