W1100 Wireless WAN Gateway
For 3G wireless data services
New 3G and 2G data service offerings are increasing the use of cellular technology for a wide range of networking applications such as wireless
The wireless WAN interface is provided through a standard PCMCIA card installed in and managed by the W1100 and supports the newest 3G services. The Ethernet LAN interface provides standard connectivity to routers and other LAN equipment, allowing use of existing equipment.
To protect the network from outside intrusion, the W1100 contains a Stateful Packet Inspection firewall to identify and block attacks. The W1100 includes a Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliance for encryption, enabling secure access across the cellular network.
With cellular data services becoming less expensive and more accessible, there are many potential application uses. For businesses, applications such as retail, brokerages, and other
It supports applications when the primary network fails, and the speeds are better than other options, such as a modem or ISDN line. The W1100 can also be used for primary access as a wireless router or as a
Wireless carriers need to continually have access to and manage cell sites, ideally remotely. The W1100 improves cell site network performance and reliability through remote access for management over the cellular network. If a cell site goes down, a technician can log in from anywhere to begin diagnostics and reporting. This improves performance and technician efficiency, ultimately reducing carrier costs.
