If you connect a digital recording component, such as an MD recorder, to the Optical Digital Output Terminal, you can make direct, high-quality digital recordings of CDs.

And connecting a DVD player to the Optical Digital Input Terminal enables direct digital (stereo) recording to a CD-R/RW disc.

Kenwood's HM-383MD MD recorder is MDLP (MD long playing mode) compatible. This means you can enjoy stereo recording for 160 minutes in the LP2 mode, and

320 minutes in the LP4 mode. So now you can record two or three CDs on a single MD. Of course, recording in the regular mode is also possible.
