Mounting

After determining the best mounting position, check carefully in the areas where the mounting brackets will go. Make very sure that the mounting screws will not puncture the gas tank, brake lines, wire harnesses, etc., or interfere with any mechanical items on the underside of the chosen mount- ing surface. Turn the enclo-

sure upside-down and attach the four mounting brackets to the bottom of the enclo- sure using the supplied small- er screws. Each bracket must be positioned so the rounded end protrudes approximately 3/4" from under the cabinet to allow a screw to easily pass through it for attachment to the vehicle.(See Diagram.)

Plug your subwoofer

speaker wire into the termi- nals, using the red connector as positive and the black con- nector as negative. Hook the

other end of this wire to your

subwoofer amplifier in accordance with its owner's manual. This enclosure is wired internally to produce a 2 or 4 Ohm load at the terminals depending on the model.

With the enclosure right side up, securely attach it to the vehicle with the supplied larger screws. If the supplied hardware is not applicable to your installation, some other means of securely attaching the enclosure to the vehicle must be used.

To avoid potential injury from forward movement of the enclosure during abrupt stops or accidents, this enclosure must be properly installed and securely fastened to your vehicle.

HS12L7, HS12L5 specifications

Kicker, a renowned name in the world of car audio systems, has made a significant impact with its HS series subwoofers, particularly the HS12L5 and HS12L7 models. Designed for car enthusiasts seeking powerful bass performance, these subwoofers offer a range of impressive features and technologies that set them apart from the competition.

The HS12L5 features a rugged polypropylene cone, which is designed to handle high levels of power while delivering clean and precise sound. The subwoofer is equipped with a heavy-duty cast aluminum frame that ensures durability and stability during intense playback sessions. This model is built to handle up to 600 watts RMS and boasts a peak power handling of 1200 watts, making it an ideal choice for those who crave deep and impactful bass.

On the other hand, the HS12L7 takes things a step further with its advanced design. In addition to a similar polypropylene cone, this model features Kicker's unique SoloKon™ technology that offers enhanced bass response and minimizes distortion. The HS12L7 is capable of handling 750 watts RMS and peaks at 1500 watts, making it an excellent choice for larger vehicles or systems requiring even more power.

Both models benefit from Kicker's Zero Point Technology, which helps to enhance the efficiency of how the subwoofers convert power into sound. This technology ensures optimal performance in a variety of enclosure types, whether a sealed or ported box, giving users the flexibility to customize their sound system.

The HS12L5 and HS12L7 also come with high-temperature voice coils that are designed for improved thermal management. This feature helps to prevent overheating during prolonged listening sessions, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. Additionally, both models use double-stacked ferrite magnets, which provide a stronger magnetic field, enhancing the driver’s response and overall sound quality.

The installation process for these subwoofers is straightforward, with all models featuring standard direct-connect terminals for easy wiring. With their robust build quality and powerful performance capabilities, the Kicker HS12L5 and HS12L7 subwoofers are excellent upgrades for any car audio setup, delivering the thunderous bass that many audiophiles strive for.
