Drying Tips for “Premium” Media

The following recommendations are provided to give the best drying, which will ensure the best adhesion with laminates, for swellable media types on the Kodak 1200i printer using Qi dyes.

-Use the fans with no heat. Heat may actually increase dry times.

-Use color profiles that use the least ink, while still providing good density and color. Kodak supplies profiles for several printer/ ink combinations at www.kodak.com/go/ wfiprofiles.

-Rolled prints do not dry completely. Leaving the prints exposed to air is the only way to allow them to fully dry.

-In environments that have higher temperatures and humidity, use additional fans for increased drying.

-Use slower print speeds. The extra drying achieved by having the prints exposed to air before they are wound on the take-up spool will aid in laminate adhesion. An additional benefit here is increased image quality.

Lamination

Kodak wide-format inkjet media is tested for a large variety of laminates with each Kodak ink type. From pressure-sensitive to heat- activated and everything in between, our media will allow you to laminate with most existing set-ups.

Successful lamination requires that inkjet media be completely dry to ensure good adhesion and to avoid unwanted color shifts. While prints may feel dry to the touch, components of the ink that prevent good adhesion or may cause the color to change may still be present.
