Remove wall material.

2. Prepare the Site

IMPORTANT! Select wall material that is water resistant (such as cement board) and meets local building codes.

Install wall material to the entire shower area, including the stud pocket.

NOTE: Keep in mind the length of the column is 60″ (152.4 cm) when determining the desired height.

Determine the desired vertical position of the column at the stud pocket location, then draw a pencil mark at the base of the column.

From the marked point, draw a rectangle 60″ (152.4 cm) in height and 5-1/8″ (13 cm) in width.

Verify the drawn perimeter is plumb and level.

Using a keyhole saw, carefully cut along the marked perimeter lines to remove the wall material.
