WCES 2005 - New Product Announcement

Two megahertz open loop bandwidth in a zero feedback, balanced, Krell Current Mode and CAST circuitry design.

To eliminate loading effects, single-ended and balanced volt- age inputs drive a dynamically- cascoded JFET buffer, which has tremendous open-loop line- arity and very high input imped- ance.

All signal gain is realized in the current domain using proprie- tary multiple-output current mirrors with nearly 500 times the open loop linearity of other designs.

Negative feedback is not used anywhere in the preamp be- cause it is not necessary. Open- loop distortion is typically less than 0.005% (50 parts per mil- lion).

The volume control is realized with a 16-bit balanced resistor ladder — bandwidth and tran- sient response of the preamp circuitry are virtually unaffected by the volume setting.

The Evolution Two

Monaural

Preamplifier

Housed in a separate chassis, the power supply makes use of extensive electrical and mag- netic shielding to keep radiated interference out of critical pre- amplifier circuits.

Each monaural preamplifier has

a power supply capability equivalent to many stereo power amplifiers.

A 170 VA toroidal transformer drives four 8-amp bridge rectifi- ers and 39,600 microfarads of filter capacitance.

A new Krell-designed digital control circuit monitors and optimizes the preamplifier’s operating parameters.

Any number of preamplifiers may be linked and controlled from a single master, making high quality, multi-channel au- dio systems a reality for the first time.

Offered in diamond-cut silver or luxurious black finish.

The Evolution Series

Expressed through a combination of breakthrough technologies and inspired vision, the Evolution Two Preamplifier and Evolution One Power Amplifier culminate more than 25 years of industry lead-

ing audio design. The relentless pursuit of the most realistic music reproduction is at the heart of Krell design, and this heart beats strongest in the Evolution. The Krell trademark is synonymous with music reproduction that fills a room with in-

toxicating detail and startling dynamics. Like live music, this effortless power and instant response elicit a visceral response that engages all the senses. Yielding phe- nomenal power in the most refined man- ner imaginable, the Evolution system is a

synthesis of almost impossible contradictions; a unique blend of beauty, grace, and power.
