Connecting the Converter

Connect the USB plug of the Converter to the USB port of your PC or Mac and plug the converter directly in to the SCSI Port of your first SCSI device. If the connector is not compatible with your SCSI Port, please use an alternative adapter, which is also available from LINDY. Please note that the last device on the SCSI bus has to be terminated. In order to guarantee the most reliable data transfer, an active terminator should be used.

Driver Installation

Win 98: Once you have connected the USB SCSI Converter to the USB port of the PC and to the SCSI device, the new SCSI device will be recognized by the operating system and you will be asked for drivers. Put the driver CD into the CD-ROM drive. In case the system will not find the driver, refer to \USB Products\W- USB-SC(Bus Power).

Macintosh: Place the CD-ROM into the drive and follow the installation prompts. Once the compressed drivers have been installed, power down the machine. Connect the USB SCSI Converter to an available USB Port and a SCSI device and restart. Once restarted the connected device will be recognised when in use.

Win 2000: The operating system Win2000 supplies it own drivers, which will automatically be installed when the converter is connected to the PC. Please note that the SCSI-ID of the connected SCSI-device has to be ID 0. As a result Windows 2000 is only able to support one SCSI device connected to this converter.

Anschluß des Converters

Verbinden Sie den Stecker des Converters mit dem USB- Anschluß Ihres PCs oder Macs und stecken Sie das Gerät selbst direkt auf den SCSI-Connector des ersten SCSI- Gerätes. Sollte das Gerät nicht den passenden Anschluß aufweisen, benutzen Sie bitte einen entsprechenden Adapter, der ebenfalls von LINDY bezogen werden kann. Am letzten Gerät muß der Bus wie üblich terminiert sen. Zur Erhöhung der Zuverlässigkeit des Datentransfers sollte ein aktiver Terminator verwendet werden.

Treiberinstallation

Win 98: Nach dem Verbinden mit dem USB-Anschluß des PCs und dem SCSI-Gerät erkennt das Betriebssystem das neue SCSI-Gerät und fordert zum Einlegen der Treiber auf. Als Installationsquelle geben Sie bitte das CD-Laufwerk an. Falls das System die Treiber nicht finden sollte, verweisen Sie auf das Verzeichnis to \USB Products\W-USB-SC(Bus Power).

Macintosh: Legen Sie die CD-ROM in das Laufwerk und folgen Sie den Anweisungen zur Installation. Nach erfolgter Treiberinstallation schalten Sie den Computer aus, verbinden den USB SCSI Konverter mit einem USB Port und einem SCSI-Gerät und schalten den Computer wieder ein. Das SCSI-Gerät wird dann automatisch erkannt.

Win 2000: Windows 2000 installiert systemeigene Treiber sobald läuft exakt so ab, wie unter Win98. Beachten Sie jedoch bitte, daß die SCSI-ID des angeschlossenen SCSI-Device zwingend ID 0 sein muß . Daraus ergibt sich, daß unter Win 2000 nur ein Gerät anschließ bar ist.
