Shut Down DEFINITY AUDIX System
1. If a DEFINITY AUDIX resides in the MCC port network to be upgraded ,
shut down the AUDIX assembly and allow the d isk to completely spin
down. Refer to ‘‘DEFINITY AUDIX Power Procedures’’ on page 6-141.
!WARNING:

Neglecting to shut d own an AUDIX assembly before powering d own

the system cabinet where it resides can damage the AUDIX disk.
2. Unseat the AUDIX assembly from its backp lane connectors.
Power Down MCC Port Network
1. At the MCC port network, set the main circ uit breaker to OFF.
Install Port Carrier
1. Open the rear doors.
2. Remove the blank port carrier p anel by pushing outward on p anel from the
rear of the cabinet until the panel c lears the 4 retaining pins on the cab inet
frame. See Figure 6-49.
3. Use a screwdriver to loosen and remove th e 4 retaining pins from the
cabinet frame.
4. Align the carrier through th e front of the system cabinet with the 4 pilo t
holes on cabinet frame.
NOTE:
Support the carrier by the molded-in support pins above the top
mounting holes.
5. Insert self-tapping s crews in the pilot holes and tig hten.
6. Attach the magnetically-h eld nomenclature panel to front of c arrier.
7. At the rear, install 8 grounding jum pers from the adjacent bac kplane to the
new carrier backp lane wiring (Figure 6-50 and Figure 6-51).
8. Connect a 9-pin D subminiatu re plug on right side of c abinet to P1
connector on carrier. If nec essary, cut the tie wrap holding the interc abinet
cable to the uprig ht in the area of the carrier being installed.
9. Connect the TDM/LAN cable to the newly installed port carrier. See Figure
6-52, Figure 6-53, Figure 6-54, or Figure 6-55 and Table 6-11.
