PRIOR TO FIRST USE
•Wipe the grid for bread rolls (3) and the external surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth and let appliance dry.
•Surplus cord can be wound round the holders (11) at the bottom of the appliance.
•Turn on the appliance, and allow it to complete an entire toasting cycle without any bread in to remove any oil residue from manufacture.
USE
1.Plug in (1) and switch the power on.
2.Check that the crumb tray (2) is correctly positioned.
3.Attach the grid for bread rolls if you want to toast bread rolls, French bread sticks or any type of bread that will not fit in the toaster openings (4).
o Tilt the metal holders on each side of the black handles downwards until they are vertical.
o Place the grid on top of the appliance so that the metal holder fits into the toaster openings.
4.Place the bread to be toasted in the toaster openings or on the grid for bread rolls. Never place bread directly on top of the appliance.
5.Turn the timer button (7) to the required toasting time. 1 is the shortest time and 7 is the longest.
6.Press the lever (6) as far down as it will go. The middle indicator directly below the temperature button is lit, and toasting commences.
o To interrupt toasting before the time is up, press the reset button (9).
o If the bread is frozen and needs defrosting, press the defrost button
(8). The indicator beside the button is lit and remains lit until toasting is stopped automatically or manually.
o If you wish to reheat bread, press the reheat button (10). The indicator beside the button is lit and remains lit until toasting is stopped automatically or manually.
7.The appliance switches off automatically when the bread is toasted. The middle indicator switches off, and the bread is ejected from the appliance.
IMPORTANT!
•If bread is jammed in the toaster openings, the appliance automatically switches off. Remove the cord from the socket and moved the lever for ejecting the bread up and down a few times to free the bread.
•Remember to turn the appliance off at the socket and remove the plug when you are finished using it.
•The crumb tray must be emptied and cleaned regularly to avoid the risk of fire.
Caution! You may experience a small amount of smoke or odour the first few times the appliance is used. This is due to excess material from the manufacturing process being burnt off. This is completely normal, and the smoke/smell will soon disappear.
Toasting tips
The appliance can be used to toast many different types of bread. It is not possible to recommend a browning level for all types of bread as it very much depends on the composition of the bread and personal taste. Proceed by trial and error. Thick slices of bread, buns and coarse bread need to be toasted longer than thin slices of bread and light bread.
