INTRODUCTION
To get the best out of your new combined coffee maker and kettle, please read through these instructions carefully before using it for the fi rst time. We also recommend that you keep the instructions for future reference, so that you can remind yourself of the functions of the appliance.
SAFETY MEASURES
Normal use of the appliance
•Incorrect use of the appliance may cause personal injury and damage to the appliance.
•Use the appliance for its intended purpose only. The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury or damage resulting from incorrect use or handling (see also Guarantee Terms).
•Use only accompanying accessories or those recommended by the manufacturer.
•The appliance may only be connected to 230 V, 50 Hz.
•The appliance or the cord must not be immersed in water or any other liquid.
•Never leave the appliance unattended and keep an eye on children when it is in use.
•The coffee maker should never be switched on if the kettle contains very hot or boiling water. Use cold water only. Ensure the coffee maker is switched off when fi lling the kettle.
•Avoid adding water to the kettle while coffee brewing is in progress, as this can cause the glass pot to overfl ow.
•The water level in the kettle must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the water level gauge. Do not put any liquid other than water into the kettle.
•Never put the glass pot on a cooking ring or in an oven/microwave oven. Do not place it on the hotplate when it is empty or almost empty and the coffee maker is switched on.
•Do not use the glass pot if it has a loose or defective handle, or if it is broken in any other way.
•The metal and glass parts get very hot during use. Touch the plastic parts only.
•Do not touch or open the lid of the kettle immediately after the water has boiled, as it will be extremely hot.
•Do not swing the fi lter holder out during brewing.
•Do not touch the hotplate immediately after using the coffee maker.
•When lifting the kettle up off the base, there may be a little water in the contact on the bottom of the kettle and on the contact on the base. This is completely normal, but the water should be wiped up with a cloth.
•The appliance should never be switched on unless it contains water or descaler.
•
•This appliance is not suitable for commercial or outdoor use.
Positioning the appliance
•Always place the appliance on a stable, level surface at a safe distance from the table/counter edge.
•Always place the appliance at a safe distance from heat sources such as ovens, cooking rings or similar.
•Do not cover the appliance.
•Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table/counter, and keep it away from hot objects and naked fl ames.
Cord, plug and mains socket
•Check regularly that the cord is not damaged and do not use the appliance if it is, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any other way.
•If the appliance, cord or plug is damaged, it must be inspected and, if necessary, repaired by an authorised repair engineer, otherwise there is a risk of electric shock. Never try to repair the appliance yourself.
•Remove the plug from the socket when cleaning, or when the appliance is not to be used for a while.
•Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the socket. Instead, hold the plug.
•The cord must not be wound around the appliance.
•Keep the cord away from heat sources and the hot parts of the appliance.
•Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the appliance’s cord or any extension cord.
