Electrical requirements
Check that the voltage on the rating plate of your appliance corresponds with your house electricity supply which must be A.C. (Alternating Current).
If the socket outlets in your home are not suitable for the plug supplied with this appliance, the plug should be removed and the appropriate one fitted.
Note: The plug removed from the mains lead, if severed, must be destroyed as a plug with bared flexible cord is hazardous if engaged into a live socket outlet.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
Should the fuse in the 13 amp plug require replacement, a BS1362 13 amp fuse must be fitted.

Instructions for use

Please read before use, taking careful note of points 1 to 3

1 Before plugging in ensure that the carriage lever ß is in the upper position.

2 Use your toaster once without bread. This will pre-heat the new elements and burn off any dust which may have accumulated during storage.

3 Select the desired level of browning on the browning control Û marked 1 to 8. You will need to vary the setting according to the moisture content and thickness of bread. For best results ensure that the bread slices are of even thickness, freshness and size. The variable width bread slots will accept thicker or thinner bread than a conventional toaster. Remember that stale bread toasts more rapidly than fresh and thin bread toasts quicker than thick. See the ‘additional points’ section for more information.

Ú4 After selecting the desired setting, place your bread

Þ

in the slots and depress the bread carriage lever ß

downwards until it locks.

Note: The bread carriage lever will not stay down unless

Û

the toaster is plugged in and wall switch is on.

5 When the toast is cooked, it will pop-up

Ý

automatically ready for removal from the slots.

ÜThe bread carriage lever will have returned to its

ßupper position and disconnected the element, ready for the next toasting.

If the first slices are not dark enough turn the

browning control to a higher setting.

If the first slices are too dark turn the browning control

to a lower setting.

• When toasting two slices, put the bread in the

two outer slots for best results. One side may

appear to be a darker colour than the other. This

is quite normal and is not a fault.

If the bread in your toaster becomes jammed,

disconnect your toaster at the socket, allow it to

cool, then remove the bread.

When not in use, switch

Þ

your toaster off at the mains

and remove the plug from

the socket. DO NOT

WRAP THE CABLE

AROUND THE MAIN

Û

BODY OF THE TOASTER

DURING OR

IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE.

THE CABLE STORAGE

AREA UNDERNEATH THE

Ý

TOASTER SHOULD BE USED.
