Developed from the acclaimed NAD 5425 CD player, the 502 with NAD Link incorporates a fully revised internal layout and superior components to optimise performance, providing a CD player which out performs many other manufacturers more expensive machines.

The MASH single bit converter delivers distortion-free sound from its sophisticated D to A circuitry The digital output can be linked to any outside digital recorder, DAT, DCC or mini disc, or to a digital signal processor making the 502 ‘future proof’.

The 502 is remarkably capable for its cost and the US journal ‘Stereophile’ said in April 1994 “You won’t do better for twice the money”.

502 specifications

The NAD 502 is a pioneering product in the realm of audio playback technology, designed for audiophiles and casual listeners alike who prioritize high-fidelity sound and versatility. Released in the late 1990s, the NAD 502 showcases the brand’s legacy of quality engineering and sound performance.

One of the main features of the NAD 502 is its CD playback capability. The unit is equipped with a high-quality CD transport mechanism that ensures accurate reading and minimal error correction, allowing it to deliver pristine audio playback. The built-in Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) enhances sound quality by converting digital audio signals into analog, preserving the nuances of the original recording. The DAC is often a standout component in the NAD 502, providing a warm and engaging listening experience that is true to the source material.

In terms of design, the NAD 502 is typical of the brand’s clean and functional aesthetic. It boasts a sturdy build, with a well-placed front panel layout that includes an easy-to-read display, intuitive controls, and multiple output options. The unit is designed to integrate seamlessly into any audio setup, whether as a standalone player or part of a larger home theater system.

Another characteristic of the NAD 502 is its compatibility with various audio formats. While primarily a CD player, it also offers the capability to play CD-R and CD-RW discs, which is a significant advantage for users who wish to enjoy their custom compilations or burnt audio. Additionally, the NAD 502 is equipped with digital output ports, including coaxial and optical connections, allowing for direct interfacing with external DACs or home theater receivers.

The NAD 502 leverages advanced technologies such as the proprietary NAD PowerDrive, which optimizes power consumption and output drive capabilities to keep distortion levels low, even at high volumes. This technology contributes to a clean audio signal that retains detail and dynamics, regardless of the listening environment.

Overall, the NAD 502 stands out not only for its technical specifications but also for its ability to deliver an immersive listening experience. It embodies the essence of NAD’s commitment to audio excellence, making it a worthwhile addition to any audiophile’s collection. The combination of well-engineered components, thoughtful design, and top-notch performance solidifies the NAD 502’s reputation as a classic in the world of audio playback.
