DVD-Video

Normally, the contents of DVD-Video are divided into titles, and the titles are subdivided into chapters.

Video CD/CD

Video CD and CD are divided into tracks.

*The DVD Player can play CD-R/RW discs recorded in CD-DA format, or with MP3 audio files. Some CD-R/RW discs may not be able to be played back.

You cannot play discs such as CD-ROM, DVD-Audio, DVD- RAM, DVD-RW, etc., even if the marks in the above table are labeled on those discs.

The North American version of this DVD Player outputs NTSC format video only. Other models output NTSC or PAL depending on the format used by the disc currently being played. DVD discs that use other video formats (e.g., SECAM) cannot be played on this DVD Player.

Avoid using heart-shaped or octagonal discs. Playing irregularly shaped discs may damage the internal mechanism of the DVD Player.

Discs with shapes such as these cannot be played.

Do not use discs that have residue from adhesive tape, rental discs that have peeling labels, or discs that have custom labels or stickers. Otherwise, you may not be able to eject the discs or the DVD Player may become inoperative.

Use CD-R or CD-RW media for recording your CD audio files or MP3 files. The disc must be finalized in order to play.

About Video CDs

This DVD Player supports Video CDs equipped with the PBC (Version 2.0) function. (PBC is the abbreviation of Playback Control.) You can enjoy two playback variations depending on the type of disc.

Video CD not equipped with PBC function (Version 1.1)

Sound and movies can be played on this DVD Player in the same way as a CD.

Video CD equipped with PBC function (Version 2.0)

In addition to operation of the Video CD not equipped with the PBC function, you can enjoy playback with interactive software and search function using the menu displayed on the TV screen (Menu Playback). Some of the functions described in this Instruction Manual may not work with some discs.

MP3 Compatibility Information

This system is not compatible with mult-session discs. If you try a multi-session disc, only the first session will be played.

The CD-R or CD-RW must be ISO 9660 level 1 compatible.

Files should be MPEG1 Audio Layer 3 format, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz (recomended) or 48 kHz, 32 kbps - 320 kbps (128 kbps recomended). Incompatible files will not play.

This system only plays tracks that are named with the file extension “.mp3” or “.MP3”.
