The exposure value (EV) metered in Step 3 above is stored.

The shutter speed and aperture

combination appears. Use the four-way controller (45) to move the combination of

values. This combination of values can be displayed in various ways, for example to obtain the aperture that corresponds to the desired shutter speed or to obtain the shutter speed that corresponds to the desired aperture.

EV is short for “exposure value” and is the value that indicates the exposure brightness (brightness of the subject). EV=0 when the aperture (f-number) is 1.0 and the shutter speed is 1/1.

The screen display during Digital Exposure Metering mode changes to a scale displaying the metered exposure value. This display is called the EV scale.
