PREPARING THE TOOL
1. After reading and understanding this entire manual, connect tool to
air supply (Fig. 18).
DANGER: Never point tool at yourself or others in work area.
Always connect tool to air supply before loading fasteners (Fig. 18).
Do not load fasteners with trigger or safety depressed.
Only use approved Porter-Cable fasteners.
Operator and others in work area MUST wear safety glasses with side
shields. Always wear ANSI Z87.1 approved safety glasses, and hearing
protection when preparing or operating the tool.
Never use a tool that is leaking air, has missing or damaged parts, or
requires repair.
2. Lift latch (A) Fig. 19, open feeder cover and magazine cover (see Fig. 20).
3. Adjust nail support (B) Fig. 21, for desired nail length: the nail support
can be lifted and rotated to three different positions that provide support for
different length roofing nails. The lowest position is used for 13/4" nails, the
center position is used for 11/4" and 11/2" nails, and the upper position is used
for 7/8" and 1" nails. Note:3/4"nails are not available for this tool.
4. Observe fastener icon (A) Fig. 21A.
Insert fasteners (B) with points down.
IMPORTANT: Fasteners must point
in the same direction as they will be
driven.
5. Remove retainer from a coil of
roofing nails, uncoil approximately 3"
of nails, and position coil onto nail
support with the second nail (A) Fig.
22 in the feed fingers.
