ASSEMBLY
WARNING: If rec eived assembled,
repeatall steps to ensure your unit is pr operly
assembled and all fasteners are secure.
Examine parts for damage. Do not use dam-

It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Findingfuel or oil residue on muffler is normal
due to carburetor adjustments and testing
doneby themanufacturer.

INSTALLINGTRIMMER ATTACH-

MENT

CAUTION: When installing trimmer attach-
ment,place the unit on a flat s urface for stability.
1. Loosen the coupler by turning the knob
counterclockwise.

2. Removeshipping protector from coupler.
3. Removethe shaft cap from the trimmer at-
tachment (if present).
4. Positionlocking/release button of attach-
ment intoguide r ecess of coupler.
5. Pushthe attachment into the c oupler until
theloc king/release button snaps into the
primary hole.
6. Before using the unit, tighten the knob s e-
curely by turning clockwise.

WARNING: Make s ure the locking/
release button is locked in the primary hole
andthe knob is s ecurely tightened before op-
erating the unit. All attachments are designed
tobe us ed in the primary hole unless o therwise
stated in the applicable attachment instruction

ous injury or damage to the unit.

ATTACHINGTHE SHIELD

WARNING : The shield must be prop-
erlyinstalled. The s hieldprovides partial protec-
tionfr omt heris k of thrown objects to the opera-
tora nd others and is equipped with a line limiter
blade which cuts excess line to the proper
length. The line limiter blade (on underside of
shield) is sharp and can cut you. For proper
orientationof shield, s eeK NOW YOUR TRIM-
MER illustration in OPERATION section.
1. Remove wing nut from shield.
2. Insert bracket into slot as shown.
3. Pivotshield until bolt p asses through hole in
bracket.
4. Securely tighten wing nut onto bolt.

ADJUSTINGTHE HANDLE

WARNING : Whenadjustingthe han-
dle,be s ure it remains above the safety label
and below the mark or arrow on the shaft.
1. Loosenwing nut on handle.
2. Rotatethe handle on the s haftto an up-
right position; retighten wing nut.
